Spring Meetings Registration and Accreditation

Spring Meetings Badges Available Beginning Monday, April 17, 2017

The Registration Office is open for badge pickup daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from Monday April 17 — Sunday, April 23.

Attendance to the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings is by invitation only. All participants must be accredited in advance of the Meetings. To facilitate accreditation and registration, the participants are divided into different categories, described below. Please determine your registration category and submit your registration request accordingly.

Please note that an onsite Registration Desk operates for issuance of participant badges to those who are already accredited. Facilities for onsite accreditation are very limited and onsite accreditation is not guaranteed. Please plan your attendance at the Spring Meetings events in advance.

Participants are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible to avoid delays.

Delegates are governmental officials of the member countries of the IMF and World Bank Group. Delegates are registered through the iMF Offices of Executive Directors and Bank. Observer registration is now open. Observers to the 2017 Spring Meetings consist of (i) representatives of organizations invited to attend or participate in meetings of the joint Development Committee (DC) and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and (ii) representatives of organizations invited to the 2016 Annual Meetings. The Executive Boards of the World Bank Group and the IMF have approved that organizations invited to the 2016 Annual Meetings as observers also be invited as observers to the 2017 Spring Meetings. Please see the list of the Observer Organizations and submit your application as an observer if your organization is included in the list. As in previous years, the World Bank Group and the IMF will host the Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF) ahead of the official 2017 Spring Meetings. The CSPF provides an open space for Civil Society organizations (CSOs) to dialogue and exchange views with World Bank Group and IMF staff, their peers, government delegations, and other stakeholders on a wide range of topics.

The CSPF will convene in Washington, D.C. from Monday, April 17 to Friday, April 21, 2017. The program will include an orientation session on the World Bank Group; a roundtable with World Bank Group Executive Directors; and about 40, mainly CSO-organized, policy dialogue sessions that reflect the diversity of CSO policy concerns. The schedule of sessions will be available on the CSPF website by mid-March.

All CSO representatives interested in participating in the CSPF must obtain individual accreditation. This accreditation will also provide access to all the open events of the 2017 Spring Meetings. For purposes of registration, CSOs include non-governmental organizations, community groups, labor unions, indigenous peoples movements, faith-based organizations, professional associations, foundations, think tanks, charitable organizations, and other not-for-profit organizations. All other participants - such as representatives from the private sector, academia or governmental bodies - must apply for accreditation through the "Guests" or other relevant registration category.

The online registration system for civil society registration is now open and will close on April 3, 2017. The registration process could take up to three weeks and no new registration requests will be accepted after this deadline, so CSO representatives are encouraged to apply early.

Press Registration Requirements

Members of the press with valid credentials are invited to attend the Meetings. The online registration system to accept applications for press registration is open now and will close on April 22, 2017. All working press must have Spring Meetings credentials to attend the meetings. Requests for media accreditation will be denied if applicants cannot establish they are professional journalists. This applies to all freelancers, including photographers and bloggers. To be accredited, you must present one of the following:

Valid press credentials issued by national governments or authorities;

OR
Clear evidence that you are on assignment from a specific news organization or publication. A valid assignment letter from that news organization, or publication, is required. Photographic agencies must provide clear evidence from a client news organization or publication.

If such credentials are not held, or are in question, it will be at the discretion of the World Bank Group and the IMF to determine whether access to the Spring Meetings is granted.

Guest registration for the 2017 Spring Meetings is open now.

Applicants will choose whether they are to be listed as World Bank Group Guests or IMF Guests, based on their focus during the Spring Meetings. The choice of registering through the Bank or Fund will not preclude access to venues and events at the other institution. Therefore, except for restricted events, all Bank and Fund Guests will have access to both Bank and Fund venues.

All registration requests must be accredited based on the policies and procedures governing the attendance of Guests at the 2017 Spring Meetings. Because of the clearance process, accreditation may require more than two weeks. To avoid delays, all applicants from the various sectors below are strongly encouraged to complete the online Guest Registration Request as early as possible, no later than April 1, 2017 in order to ensure sufficient time for processing.

Private Sector

Representatives from financial institutions and banks, commercial enterprises, consulting and contractor firms who have interest in the operations and affairs of the World Bank Group and IMF are invited to apply for Guest accreditation at the 2017 Spring Meetings. All private sector representatives should complete the online Guest Registration Request.

Academia

University professors, researchers, and faculty members who have professional and educational interest in the operations and affairs of the World Bank Group and IMF are invited to apply for Guest accreditation at the 2017 Spring Meetings and complete the Guest Registration Request. For students interested in attending, in addition to the Guest Registration Request, an endorsement letter from the Head of Department or Vice Chancellor of the University confirming status in the University and stating academic interest is required. Supporting documentation should be either uploaded to the registration system (if you are an IMF Guest) or submitted by email to the Registration Office (Guestregistration@worldbank.org for Bank Guests or imfguests@imf.org for IMF Guests) when submitting the Guest Registration form.

Parliamentarians

Parliamentarians are experts on parliamentary procedures who attend the Meetings as Guests. They advocate for increased accountability and transparency and represent over 145 countries around the world.

World Bank Group and IMF Former Employees

Former Bank and IMF staff members who continue to have business interest in the affairs of both organizations are invited to apply for Guest accreditation at the 2017 Spring Meetings and to complete the Guest Registration Request.
