Fast.: The Year of No Do-Overs, in conversation with Sabina Bhatia, Director of the Corporate Services and Facilities Department at the IMF. Together they will tackle issues of leadership, difficult career choices, and the essential role of on-the-ground reporting – from conflict zones to the newsroom. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF, will give opening remarks.

Opening Remarks: Kristalina Georgieva

Kristalina Georgieva Kristalina Georgieva is the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She is the first person from an emerging market economy to lead the IMF since its inception in 1944. Before joining the Fund, Ms. Georgieva was Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank and also served as Interim President for a time. Previously, she served at the European Commission as Vice President for Budget and Human Resources – and as Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response. She was named “European of the Year” and “Commissioner of the Year” by European Voice for her leadership in the European Union’s humanitarian response to crises.

Award-winning broadcaster and author Mary Louise Kelly is one of the most prominent voices in American journalism today. As host of NPR’s All Things Considered, her assignments have included North Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Israel, Iran and beyond. Kelly’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and other publications. She serves on Harvard’s Board of Overseers and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a contributing writer at The Atlantic and author of two novels, Anonymous Sources and The Bullet. Her 2023 memoir, It.Goes.So.Fast, was an instant New York Times bestseller.

Sabina Bhatia is Director at Corporate Services and Facilities Department of the IMF. Prior to that, she was Deputy Secretary of the IMF. Sabina has a B.A. from Calcutta University and an M.A. in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
